Four things, one footprint

Count what is on a typical nightstand: a clock, a phone charger, a speaker, sometimes a radio, and the cables for all of them. The UE268 is roughly the size of a paperback standing on its long edge, and it is all four. The pad takes a phone through most cases; the USB port on the back handles a second device at the same time.

About the charging speed

The pad is rated at 10W and it is Qi certified, which is a safety and interoperability certification run by the Wireless Power Consortium through independent laboratories. Certification does not mean fast. Baseline Qi is 5W and the extended profile goes to 15W; 10W sits between them. For a phone that lies there all night this is the right trade. For a phone that needs to go from empty to full before you leave, use a cable.

The radio

FM, with a sleep timer that shuts it off on its own. It is there because a surprising number of people still fall asleep to a station rather than to a file, and because a clock radio that cannot do the radio part is just a clock.

Night light and display

Eight night-light colours with their own brightness control, and a display dimmer running the full range to nothing. The body is wrapped in speaker-grade knit, which is there for the sound as much as for the look: fabric absorbs a little of the room instead of ringing.

The UE268 is the answer to a crowded nightstand rather than to a bad morning. Odokee bedside clocks covers the mornings separately, and the bedside guide lays out how a surface with one plug on it actually works.
